Benefits of Organic Farming and Food

There are numerous benefits of organic foods, just to name a few:
The word organic refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed.
Organic food is produced (grown, stored, processed, packaged and shipped) without adding any synthetic chemical inputs (such as pesticides, antibiotics, fertilizers,
food additives, among others), with no genetically modified foods organisms, no irradiation, and no use of sewage.
Organic farmers who grow organic produce focus on sustainable agriculture, such as using renewable resources, and by eliminating polluting chemicals and nitrogen leaching they support the preservation of soil and water and biodiversity.
This is particularly important as soil is the foundation of our food chain; moreover, the diminishing of a large variety of species (biodiversity) is one of our most vital ecological concerns today.
As of 2002, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) developed national standards and started the National Organic Program http://www.ams.usda.gov/AMSv1.0/nop for organic food production and handling.
USDA Organic labeling is broken down into 4 subcategories.
  • 100% Organic (contains 100% organic ingredients. E.g. a piece of fruit)
  • Organic (Contains 95% or more organic ingredients)
  • Made With Organic Ingredients (70% or more organic ingredients)
  • < 70% Organic Ingredients ( < 70% organic ingredients)
All Manna Organics products contain between 95% and 100% organic and are therefore certified "Organic" by Quality Assurance International (QAI), which means that an organic certification organization, accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture, has validated that products labeled as "organic" meet the defined organic standards.

We believe that organic food is better, tastier and healthier than non organic food, as one is not exposed to detrimental substances such as pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, and growth hormones.  Organic food is usually fresher since it does not contain any preservatives.
Besides its health benefits, there is various research conducted by institutes and universities worldwide showing that the nutritional value in organic food is generally higher than in non-organic foods. For more details one can read the following article at:
